| Units Control |
| |
A player can control units through an individual menu. Except menu a player can access some reference information about own and enemy-units.
Menu is available only during a player’s turn. In a combat beginning menu appears over the first unit who was added to an army during a combat preparation. With each next turn menu appears over the active unit of a previous player’s turn.
For the change of an active unit it is enough to choose a map cell where a necessary unit stands. It is also possible that a ban against an active unit change can be made. A ban is possible if a player already moved a unit during a recent turn. In this case other player’s units become equal to the enemy-units and you can use only some reference information about them. If a player cancels a unit’s move he/she will return to the beginning of a turn and a restriction will be removed.
For units control it’s enough to choose necessary menu’s option by a mouse click or use a hotkey. If a menu option isn’t available it means that this skill isn’t available for this unit. It can happen because of unit’s own features of tactics or/and peculiarities of a player’s turn. After choosing any appropriate menu option it disappears. For the skills which require additional player’s choice a cell where a unit stands changes its look and is used to cancel a chosen skill. On the map appear highlighted cells which define a particular zone of a chosen menu option action. This zone definition depends on the tactics features of an active unit.
Menu includes the following options:
- "Move" option allows to move a player on the map within a highlighted area. This option requires additional choice from a player. A highlighted area on the map includes cells which can be a final point of move. The size of this field depends on the type of a unit’s move. It can be walking taking into account the landscape or flying. Its size also depends on the parameter of a moving distance. To cancel the option a player should click by a mouse on the cancel cell. To move a unit a player should choose any cell from a highlighted area. A choice of any other cell on a field is ignored. After moving a unit menu again appears over him.
- "Undo Move" option allows to cancel moving of a unit which was made during this turn. This option appears instead of “Move” option. “Undo Move” option doesn’t require additional player’s choice. After choosing this option an active unit returns to the position in which he was at the beginning of a turn. Over him appears menu where this option changes into "Move" option.
- "Attack" option allows to attack your own or an enemy-unit. It depends on a unit’s tactics features. This option may not be available if a unit’s tactics features allow to attack. This option requires additional player’s choice. A highlighted area on the map includes the cells which can be attacked by a unit in this turn. The size of this area is defined by a unit’s tactics features: presence/absence of a contact attack, presence/absence of a distance attack. Among other unit’s tactics features are the attack range of each type of attack, dependence/independence of the landscape’s parts and presence/absence of nearby standing enemy units. To cancel an operation a player should click by a mouse on the cancel cell. To attack a player should choose a cell where a unit stands or any other cell. Choice of a cell depends on the unit’s tactics features. Anyway attack will be made within a highlighted area if it doesn’t contradict to the unit’s tactics features in a combat. For example, if it is impossible to heal a unit then attack in a form of healing won’t be made. A choice of any cell beyond the area is ignored. After attack a turn automatically goes to an enemy-player.
- "Run & Attack" option is a complex attack with approach to an enemy-player. It is characterized by a longer moving distance and another force of attack than in a consistent moving and attack. This option can be unavailable in the following cases. The first case is when a unit can’t do this operation (according to the features of tactics). The second case is when it’s not yet the time for this option to be available. A unit gets the possibility to realize "Run & Attack" option once in a 3 turns. This option requires player’s additional choice. A highlighted area on the map includes cells till which a unit can "Run & Attack" during this turn. The size of this area is defined by the parameter of a running distance and peculiarities of the landscape. To cancel the option a player should click by a mouse on the cancel cell. For making "Run & Attack" a player should choose a cell where a unit stands within a highlighted area. The option will be made if it doesn’t contradict to the unit’s features of tactics in a combat. For example, if it is impossible to heal a unit then attack in a form of healing won’t be made. A choice of any cell beyond the area is ignored. After "Run & Attack" a turn automatically goes to an enemy-player.
- "Divide Units" option allows to divide a group of units into two equal groups. This option can be unavailable if a unit in a group is alone. Division of a group of units also requires additional player’s choice. A highlighted area includes free from units cells around it and excludes cells where a unit can’t stand. To cancel the option a player should click by a mouse on the cancel cell. For dividing a group of units a player should choose any cell within a highlighted area. A choice of any cell beyond the area is ignored. After dividing a group of units a turn automatically goes to an enemy-player.
- "Merge Units" option allows to merge two groups of the same type units. The number of units after merging is summed up and the other parameters become proportional. This option can be unavailable if there is no unit of the same type within a contact field. To cancel the option a player should click by a mouse on the cancel cell. For merging two groups of the same type units a player should choose a cell where stands player’s unit of the same type within a highlighted area. A choice of any other cell within or beyond the field is ignored. After merging two groups of the same type units a turn automatically goes to an enemy-player.
- "Information" option allows a player to get information about an active unit (see below more detailed information). The option doesn’t require additional player’s choice. After choosing this option opens a window with information. When a player closes this window menu appears over a unit.
A player can look through a short information about his/her own units which includes the number of units in a group, health and moral level. As for an active unit a player has an opportunity to get detailed information about his parameters. This information includes the following points:
- Name and visual depiction.
- Short characteristics of his features of tactics: type of move and attack.
- The number of units in a group (current and initial) allows evaluating a combat losses level.
- The level of units health in a group (current and maximal).
- The level of moral (current and maximal).
- General force of a contact attack.
- General force of a shot.
- General level of defense from a contact attack.
- General level of defense from a shot.
- The number of units’ arrows in a group (current and initial).
- General meaning of "Run & Attack" force.
- The term to make "Run & Attack".
It is possible to get reference information for enemy-units and even for a player’s units if there is a ban against a change of an active unit. If a player will direct a mouse cursor on a map’s cell where a unit stands he/she can look through a short information about units. It is the number of units in a group, health and moral level. If a player clicks by a mouse on the map cell where a unit stands a player can see a possible moving distance of a unit. The second mouse click hides a view of a unit’s possible moving distance.
If a player doesn’t want to make any actions with own units he/she can just pass a turn to an enemy-player. |
